IEEE.tv showcases the IEEE MTT International Microwave Symposium (IMS), held in Anaheim, California, May 23-28, 2010, the premier annual international meeting for technologists involved in all aspects of microwave theory and practice. It consists of a full week of events, including technical paper presentations, workshops, and tutorials, as well as a full set of social events. The symposium also hosts a huge commercial exhibition, organized by MP Associates.

In addition to the live keynote broadcast, IEEE.tv IMS recorded coverage will include a Special Session honoring Dr. Kiyo Tomiyasu where invited speakers recall activities associated with Dr. Tomiyasu and his contributions to the MTT-S, GRSS and the IEEE.

IEEE.tv will also provide video coverage of the exhibition floor through Vendor Showcases and recording of the Microapps seminars from leading vendors of products and services in the microwave industry to assist in learning the latest techniques, skills and methods.

IMS 2010 - Plenary Keynote: Zachary Lemnios Director of Defense Research and Engineering DOD

In this keynote presentation, Lemnios will give an overview of a number of defense related technology opportunities and challenges facing the electronics industry. From a defense research and engineering perspective, the first major challenge is to preserve the technological edge of the forces, by extending the capabilities of the defense systems through better intelligence, greater speed, longer range, higher precision, and more effectiveness. The second major challenge is to identify breakthrough capabilities. Finally, the third major challenge is to provide a hedge against an uncertain future via a set of scientific and engineering options to deter against strategic surprise.
