IEEE WIE- TryEngineering Ship the Chip

IEEE Women in Engineering were invited to the Micrsoft DigiGirlz Camp in Charlotte, NC and conducted a lesson plan from TryEngineering.org called Ship the Chip.   Ship the Chip not only explores how engineers develop packaging design requirements, but also evaluates the external stresses that engineers must consider when developing a package or product design. Students worked as teams of engineers, evaluating material selection, manufacturing, testing and evaluation of their package design.  The Microsoft DigiGirlz Camp exposed girls to a variety of career options in science, technology, engineering and math.  Providing a hands-on experience encouraged interest into the field, motivated learning, increased awareness of technology, and all while having fun.  The Microsoft DigiGirlz program inspired its female attendees to further explore the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math.
